After continued delays and problems with regards to next generation mobile networks, the communications regulator Ofcom has admitted that it could be 2015 before the UK has 4G network coverage.

As many consumers and businesses are well aware, the rollout of 4G next generation mobile networks across the UK has become a slow, frustrating and arduous task, with the nation not even having held its 4G spectrum auction whilst other countries already have the technology up and running. Continued delays and problems with the 4G auction have left the UK lagging behind when it comes to next generation broadband and mobile networks.
This delay has had a massive impact on the UK, particularly for businesses, as it has meant that businesses are unable to utilise some tools and resources that require the power of 4G networks, which effectively could impact on their success and their profit levels.
Any businesses and consumers that were hoping to see a quick fix to the lack of 4G in the UK will be sorely disappointed, as the UK’s communications regulator Ofcom has announced that it could be as late as 2015 before the UK has full 4G networks that are up and running. Some networks will be made available in 2013 and 2014 but the main rollout will be 2015.
Whilst there have been trials of 4G networks, and both consumers and businesses are eager to sign up to these networks, the news that it could be several more years before these networks will be widely available in the UK will come as very disappointment for many although probably not as a huge surprise.
