Although Europe has regularly led the way when it comes to broadband services compared to the United States, it has been claimed that it is falling behind the US when it comes to 4G.
When it comes to broadband technology, Europe has always enjoyed a very good position in terms of leadership compared to the United States, which has often been lagging behind. However, it seems that the tables may have turned when it comes to 4G technology, with Europe appearing to be dragging its heels whilst the USA has managed to get things moving with a number of places already enjoying or set to enjoy the benefits of 4G broadband.
Many people are eager to see 4G technology rolled out in the UK and other parts of Europe, but the rollout is not going all that smoothly. In the UK there have already been a number of delays with the auction of 4G spectrum with a further one announced only recently by the communications regulator Ofcom.
In the United States the picture is quite a different one, with a number of providers having already rolled out 4G networks and a number of others who are ready to roll out this advanced technology later on this year. In Europe, however, the rollout of 4G continues to be dogged by a variety of problems, leaving it lagging behind the United States.
According to reports many European countries are still performing tests, drafting terms, and announcing a variety of delays for different reasons. Officials are concerned that all of this could mean that the UK and other European countries will end up being years behind the USA when it comes to 4G.
